| Some wheels are more difficult to maintain and repair than others. The design of the wheel, the manufacturing process and the final finish are the determining factors. A cursory knowledge of these factors might help you decide…
We provide these MESSAGES with the intention of imparting important and valuable information, which will not only save you money but will help you avoid a lot of unexpected aggravation as well. Click on one of the following titles. New Car Buyers Used Car Buyers Current Car Owners Lease Holders
!! ATTENTION !!NEW CAR BUYERSCHECK OUT THE WHEELS Automobile manufacturers know that wheels are important to the appearance of their vehicles. They not only beautify the appearance of the cars, a choice of wheels give the owners a chance to personalize an otherwise standard production model.
Stunning looking wheels are the most dramatic way of making your vehicle unique in appearance. That's why more and more car manufacturers are offering a wide variety of styles from which to choose when buying a new car. Some of the luxury lines offer over 40 styles of wheels from which to choose (ask a BMW owner). That's also why there are so many aftermarket wheel manufacturers and they can't seem to make them fast enough. Beautification and personalization are only two reasons why new car buyers must be aware of the wheels. The third and probably most important reason is that they enhance the resale value (no kidding). Have you ever seen a youth riding around in a $2,000 car with a set of $5,000 wheels? In another year or so these are the same people who will be looking to buy a more expensive used car. Enough said. So go ahead, individualize your car and buy the wheels you really want . And, if you ever damage them, the people who brought you this message can help because we repair damaged wheels! BUYING AFTERMARKET WHEELSWhen you wheel shop, you will quickly find that there is a huge difference in price. New wheels from the original manufacturer on some model cars can cost upwards of $1,000 each and there is a reason for this. The answer is quality. Some of the best wheels come from the auto companies. They cannot afford to sell junk.
There are a huge number of companies who manufacture aftermarket wheels and many provide good quality products. BBS and OZ are examples of such companies. Unfortunately there are other companies that are selling wheels that are not up to car manufacturers standards.
When choosing an aftermarket wheel, make sure you are not buying something that will soon be just scrap aluminum. Some of the wheels on the market are easily bent, the finish is inadequate and after a short while they go out of production and can no longer be replaced. We frequently meet people who have damaged an aftermarket wheel and, when they tried to check on a replacement and learned that their only option was to buy a whole new set.
If such is the case, repair is obviously an alternative. However, the cost to repair some of the cheaper wheels might actually exceed the cost of a new wheel. Click here to learn more about how to evaluate the feasibility and cost of wheel repair.

!! ATTENTION !!USED CAR BUYERSDON'T FORGET TO INSPECT THE WHEELS If you intend to buy a used car, particularly what is termed a “pre-owned” luxury car, look carefully at the wheels. We have repaired wheels for many customers who bought used cars and did not notice the damaged wheels until they got the car home. The appearance of the wheels might tell you something about the history of that vehicle.
The appearance could also help you formulate your decision to purchase. If the wheels on the car you are considering are scraped, gouged, chipped or scuffed, it could indicate a history of poor care and maintenance on the part of the previous owner. Such a history could also suggest that other important vehicle maintenance requirements were neglected.
Noticeable damage could mean that the wheels are also bent or out of alignment and the vehicle's suspension system might even be damaged. Consider the costs associated with repairs such as these. And that does not even take into consideration the price of replacing the damaged wheel, which is getting more expensive every year . Keep in mind that replacing a wheel can cost anywhere from $300.00 to over $1,000.00 on some cars. Obviously, buying a vehicle with damaged wheels can be risky.
If you are interested in buying a car where the wheels appear damaged, we can repair them for you. However, before you decide, you might suggest that the seller provide you with some type of documentation that the alignment is okay and the suspension is not damaged. BE AWARE OF UNSCRUPULUS USED CAR SELLERS You usually do not have to worry about any of this with reputable dealers but it is not uncommon for some sellers to try to hide the truth about the history of a vehicle. Devious professionals are the most adept at this unscrupulous behavior. When it comes to wheels, there are a couple of ways that a used vehicle seller might try to cheat you.
First is the cheap cosmetic cover-up. This is done by “repairing” a wheel while it is still on the car! These repairs are quick, cheap, and most of all temporary. These repairs are inferior in quality and are done just so that you will not see the damage until after you have purchased the car.
Here are a some things you can do to inspect wheels for this type of repair.
A good rule of thumb is that, if you notice that the wheels appear to have undergone on-the-car repairs, stay away! There is probably more that is being hidden from you!
Secondly, if you notice that the wheels on the car you are interested in are not the style you expected or usually see on that model car, then consider the possibility that they might be a set of cheap knock-offs. This is especially true if the wheels look brand new!
What has happened is that the original wheels on the car were damaged enough that the seller was forced to do something and elected to replace the wheels with the cheapest thing they could find. Inferior quality wheels will ultimately mean trouble for you. Sometimes it's better to buy a car whose wheels show some slight wear. You can always call us after you buy. BUYING AFTERMARKET WHEELS If you should decide to buy a used vehicle with the intention of replacing the entire set of wheels, you need to be aware of a few things. !! ATTENTION !!CURRENT CAR OWNERSWE MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU SOME DAY! If you are an owner who sincerely loves their car and cares about how it looks, you also know the history of your car. Even the most careful owner might scrape a curb and damage a beautiful and expensive premium wheel. Ordinarily, such an action will not affect the alignment, suspension system or performance of your car. However, it sure does look horrible.

...AWRS of Michigan Can Help !
The price of replacing a damaged wheel is rising every year. It can cost anywhere from $300.00 to over $1,000.00 on some cars. Although repairs are less costly, the aggravation involved in the process of having the repairs done is something you were forced to deal with. That is, until wheel repair became mobile.
Up until now, in order to get your wheel repaired, you would be required to deal with several individual steps, each of which included some complications. Compare the obstacles associated with the old choices with the convenience of dealing with our unique and modern services.
First Obstacle You must remove the wheel or pay someone to remove it. This would mean that either you drive on a spare for several days or keep your car in a safe place on a jack stand until the repairs are completed. With our service, you do not experience either inconvenience. Our charges include removal and replacement of the wheel on the car and, since we do the repairs on-site, the vehicle is only incapacitated for a short time.
Second Obstacle The tire must be removed from the wheel. This means that the wheel will require rebalancing once the tire is remounted. Although we break the front bead of the tire when we do repairs, we do not remove the tire from the rim so there is no need to have the wheel rebalanced . Third Obstacle The wheel must be taken or shipped somewhere for repairs and then you must wait until the repair is complete. When done, you either have to wait for return hipment or go back to the repair shop to pick it up. With our service, you do none of this because we do your repairs on-site. Remember, we come to you! Fourth Obstacle When the rim is returned, you must remount the tire or pay someone to remount it on the freshly repaired rim. Because the tire must be remounted after the repairs have been made, there is a risk of additional edge damage to the fresh repairs. Since we do not remove the tire from the rim, there is no risk of new rim damage in the tire mounting process. Fifth Obstacle There is also the issue of quality. Will the repaired wheel look as good as the other three on the car? There is always a chance that, when the wheel is returned, the repair will be unacceptable to you. After wasting all that time, you are now back to square one. We will not waste your time. If a wheel is damaged to the point that we do not believe it can be repaired satisfactorily, we will tell you immediately. And, if we choose to do the job, you will see the results of the final repair in about an hour andthen you can judge for yourself. We fully guarantee our repairs against inferior workmanship. If you are wondering about the quality of our work, click here for a list of just a few of our most prestigious customers. If you want to call any of them, contact us and we will provide you with a reference name and phone number . Sixth Obstacle The price. Even with all the extra services we provide, you will pay significantly less than what you would pay other wheel repair companies. And all the work you did yourself? Forget it, you get no credit for that! With our service you not only save money, there are no agonizing obstacles to deal with. We also guarantee our work 100% against inferior workmanship. If you are not completely satisfied, we will redo the wheel free of charge. What more could anyone ask? Repairs are always an alternative to replacement. However, the cost to repair some of the cheaper wheels might actually exceed the cost of a new wheel. Click here to learn more about how to evaluate the feasibility of wheel repair. !! ATTENTION !!LEASE HOLDERSTAKE CARE OF YOUR WHEELS When it comes time to turn in your leased vehicle, be mindful of the condition of the wheels. If there is damage, the dealer will require you to replace the damaged wheel with a new one .
Anytime the “skin” of the clear coat is broken, additional damage will follow. One of the best ways to keep your wheels in good condition, is to keep them clean and waxed. Wash your wheels frequently and NEVER use a cleaner containing acid, which will damage the clear coat. Use only a cleaner specifically made for aluminum wheels Eagle One makes a fine product, for example.
Also, a couple times a season, a hard wax should be rubbed into the clear coat to insure maximum protection. Not only will the wax help protect the clear coat, it will prevent any foreign matter, such as road tar and brake dust, from accumulating on the surface. Wheel Wax is a quality product designed specifically for aluminum wheels.
